Hexagon nuts for metric connections
DIN 934 nuts have an internal metric thread and a hexagonal body for wrench tightening. They are used with bolts, studs and threaded rods to join and secure components.
This configuration has no non-metallic locking insert. It is a conventional hexagon nut; its shape or designation alone does not provide automatic resistance to loosening under vibration.
Materials and property classes
Material: steel, stainless steel A2 or A4. Steel property designations in the catalogue range: 6, 8, 10 and 12. Each configuration has its own thread range; not every class is offered in every size.
A nut’s property designation must be assessed against its original marking and technical documentation. A designation with additional marks must not automatically be treated as the same number without those marks. A trade description alone does not establish mechanical properties or compatibility with a bolt.
Select A2 or A4 according to the environment and joint requirements. Surface finish is a separate specification, not a material or property class.
Surface finishes
Steel configurations include plain finish and zinc plating. Plain finish does not mean black oxide. The specific finish depends on size and property designation.
Special coatings also appear in the catalogue: for example, hot-dip galvanizing on M27 with steel designation 8 and zinc flake coating on M8 with designation 8. These options do not automatically apply to other sizes.
For hot-dip galvanized connections, the nut must match the thread and tolerance configuration of the bolt or rod. Zinc-coated components are not universally interchangeable.
Sizes and thread variants
The lists describe the catalogue range, not the dimensional scope of a technical standard. Compliance of the specific configuration is established by its product documentation. The listed property designations must be checked against the original marking and mechanical properties.

Fine metric threads
The full designation includes pitch. For example, M12 × 1.5 means a nominal diameter of 12 mm and a pitch of 1.5 mm; it is not the nut length. Finish is specified separately for the selected configuration.

Applications and nut selection
DIN 934 is used in engineering and assembly connections, equipment fastening, servicing and maintenance. Any measures against loosening must follow the joint design and operating conditions.
Matching the nominal M size alone is insufficient. Check pitch, thread direction, property and material configuration, finish and service conditions. Compatibility must follow the specific product documentation and joint design.
