Controlled tightening of bolted joints
A torque wrench is a tool for tightening bolted joints to a preset torque. These KS Tools industrial torque wrenches provide an audible and tactile signal when the preset torque is reached. The manufacturer specifies controlled clockwise and anticlockwise tightening and use in industrial manufacturing.
Set the torque specified in the assembly documentation for the machine, equipment or structure. The square drive size alone does not define the torque required by a joint.
Torque ranges and square drive sizes
One product sheet covers seven variants: 20–100, 40–200, 60–340, 100–600, 150–800, 200–1000 and 300–1500 Nm. Choose a wrench whose working range includes the required torque and whose length suits access at the workstation.
The 20–100 Nm model has a 3/8" drive. The 40–200 and 60–340 Nm models have a 1/2" drive and cover requirements of 200 and 300 Nm respectively. For 500 Nm, the range includes a 100–600 Nm model with a 3/4" drive. The 200–1000 Nm model also uses a 3/4" drive. The highest-range variant, article 516.5160, has a 1" drive and a working range of 300–1500 Nm.
The square drive is the connection size for the socket. A 1/2", 3/4" or 1" torque wrench requires accessories with the corresponding connection size. Wrench length and weight also vary across this series; the table gives the values for each variant.
Manufacturing, assembly, maintenance and service
Industrial torque wrenches support controlled tightening during manufacturing, assembly, maintenance and servicing of machines and process equipment. For larger bolted joints, including steel structures, select the variant according to the torque specified in the assembly procedure. Ranges covering 500–1500 Nm provide options for high-torque applications; they do not establish a universal tightening torque for a particular bolt.
Technical features
Manufacturer: KS Tools. The wrenches feature a mechanical scale, metal handle, reversible ratchet head and push-button socket release. Torque is adjusted by turning the handle and the setting can be locked. A micrometer scale supplements the dual scale. The Nm graduation depends on the variant.
The manufacturer specifies an actuation accuracy of ±3% and individual serial numbers. The square drive with ball retention conforms to DIN 3120 and ISO 1174.
Standard and supplied documentation
The manufacturer lists DIN EN ISO 6789-1:2017(E), DIN 3120 and ISO 1174 in the technical properties. The description separately specifies a supplied calibration declaration of conformity according to DIN EN ISO 6789:2017(E), traceable to national standards. The standard designations are reproduced as stated by the manufacturer.
