HSS-G Annular Cutters – Weldon 19 mm (3/4")

HSS-G annular cutters for magnetic drills, available with cutting depths of 30, 50 and 110 mm. The 19 mm (3/4-inch) dimension identifies the Weldon shank, not the cutter diameter.

HSS-G annular cutters with 19 mm Weldon shank

How annular cutting works

An annular cutter does not remove the complete cross-section of a hole in the same way as a conventional twist drill. Its cutting teeth remove material around the circumference and leave a central slug. For larger holes, this can reduce the amount of material removed, lower machine load and make the drilling operation more efficient.

What does Weldon 19 mm (3/4") mean?

A 19 mm Weldon shank is a standard method of securing an annular cutter in a compatible magnetic-drill holder. The shank has an approximate 19 mm diameter and flats for the holder screws. The 3/4-inch designation refers to the Weldon shank, not the cutter diameter or the diameter of the finished hole.

Cutting depth is the maximum working depth of the version, not the overall tool length. Select the required diameter and order number in the corresponding table.

Applications and workpiece materials

These cutters are intended primarily for magnetic drills and compatible machines equipped with a 19 mm Weldon holder. Typical applications include structural steelwork, steel sections, plate, beams, engineering production, fabrication and assembly work.

Confirmed workpiece groups are steel, steel castings, non-ferrous metals and light metals. Check the cutter diameter, cutting depth, speed and coolant requirements for the specific material and machine before use.

Annular cutter vs. twist drill

An annular cutter removes material mainly around the circumference of the hole, whereas a conventional twist drill removes practically the complete cross-section. The annular method can be efficient for larger holes, but the correct choice depends on diameter, depth, workpiece material, machine and the required result.

Technical questions and answers

What is an annular cutter?

An annular cutter is a hollow cutting tool used with a magnetic drill or another compatible machine. Its teeth remove material around the circumference of the hole and leave a central slug.

What is an HSS-G annular cutter?

HSS-G identifies an annular cutter made from ground high-speed steel. The cutting edges and flutes are ground to form the tool geometry.

What is a 19 mm (3/4 inch) Weldon shank?

It is a standard shank used to secure an annular cutter in a compatible magnetic-drill holder. The 3/4-inch dimension describes the approximate shank diameter, not the cutter diameter.

What cutter is used with a magnetic drill?

For larger holes in metal, a magnetic drill commonly uses an annular cutter with a shank that matches the machine holder. This product has a 19 mm (3/4-inch) Weldon shank.

What is the difference between an annular cutter and a twist drill?

An annular cutter removes material mainly around the edge of the hole and leaves a central slug. A twist drill removes practically the complete cross-section of the hole.

What cutting depth annular cutter do I need?

Choose a cutting depth that covers the workpiece thickness and the allowance required for the operation. This range offers 30, 50 and 110 mm depths; the available diameters differ between the three groups.

What are annular cutters used for?

Typical applications include holes in structural steelwork, steel sections, plate and beams during engineering, fabrication and assembly work.
