Features
Adjustable torque is set by turning the handle, then locking the setting. A dual Nm and lbf·ft scale is complemented by a fine Nm micrometer scale. Magnifying windows make the setting easier to read. An audible and tactile release signals when the preset torque is reached.
The reversible ratchet head supports controlled clockwise and anticlockwise tightening. Direction is changed by pushing the square drive through the head. The knurled rotary knob on the drive allows manual run-down. The ratchet has 30 teeth and a push-button socket release.
An ergonomic two-component handle includes a soft grip zone. KS Tools specifies repeatability over at least 5,000 load changes and provides an individual serial number for identification.
Applications
For industrial assembly, engineering production, automotive work, servicing and maintenance where the specified tightening torque must be controlled. Lower torque ranges suit precision assembly and smaller bolted joints. Higher ranges support general industrial and service work.
For repeatable assembly processes, use the tightening torque specified in the documentation for the individual joint.
Technical specifications
KS Tools specifies an actuation accuracy of ±3%. The square drive with ball retention conforms to DIN 3120 / ISO 1174. The manufacturer lists DIN EN ISO 6789-1:2017, with the (E) suffix for articles 516.1412, 516.1422 and 516.1432.
A calibration declaration of conformity to DIN EN ISO 6789:2017(E), traceable to national standards, is supplied. Overall lengths range from 289 to 412 mm and weights from 460 to 910 g. Nm graduations vary by model as shown in the table.
Selecting a torque range
- 1–5 Nm: very small joints and precision tightening.
- 5–25 Nm: smaller assembly applications.
- 10–50 Nm: general assembly tasks within this torque range.
- 20–100 Nm: industrial and service joints requiring higher torque.
Select according to the torque specified for the joint, available access and socket drive size. Each model has its own working range; no single model covers 1–100 Nm.
